PRIMARY JOB FUNCTION:
Provides support to the Manufacturing organization to facilitate efficient operations within the production area to optimize existing processes, and ensure that production goals are met. Monitors performance of equipment, machines, and tools and corrects equipment problems or process parameters that produce non-conforming products, low yields, or product quality issues. Interfaces with Quality and R&D organizations to integrate new products and/or processes into the existing manufacturing environment.
CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures.
1. Supports development management of complex medical equipment utilizing both technical and equipment engineering leadership.
2. Responsible for testing equipment, accessories, and consumables including all test methods of design transfer to the manufacturing environment.
3. Responsible for development of detailed documentation packages for all sustaining activities including the execution of test plans and protocols.
4. Provides support for Manufacturing Process Development Engineering methodologies, standards, and
relevant tests and/or certifications.
5. Interfaces with customers (suppliers/subcontractors and medical professionals) to define and support production requirements.

Establishes and cultivates an extensive network of support to facilitate completion of assignments. Participates in the development of less experienced staff by setting an example, providing guidance and work direction, and offering counsel. May lead a project team. Participates in determining goals and objectives for projects. Influences middle management on technical or business solutions. May interact with vendors.
Plans and organizes non-routine tasks w/approval. Initiates or maintains work schedule. Establishes priorities of work assignments.
Exercises judgment in selecting innovative, practical methods to achieve problem resolution. Failure to obtain results or erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in serious program delays and considerable expenditure of resources.
- Demonstrated optical or opto-mechanical design experience.
- Highly proficient with tool fixture design improvements for manufacturability.
- Proficiency in optical testing methods and functional test strategies for sophisticated electro-optical systems.
- Strong knowledge of SolidWorks.
- Sound troubleshooting skills.
- Demonstrated technical project management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Opto assembly mechanical design experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
- Familiar with root cause analysis.
- Experience working in a highly regulated manufacturing environment.
